Even though it was predicted to be 90% rain, over 30 people turned up to help with the Lake Tuggeranong Cleanup
What was encouraging, was that all said there was a lot less rubbish than they had seen in the past. This is because (I think)
– people are more aware of dumping rubbish and not doing it
– the Container Deposit Scheme mean people are not throwing bottles away
– we had people from a business (KPMG) do a cleanup early September
– with little rain there is not much being washed downstream
What ever the cause it was great to see what little we picked up, compared to what we were picking up in past yers – it is getting progressively less, I hope this trend continues.
