We will be holding our March General Meeting with the theme of We want our Lake back!
The meeting will be looking at how to restore Lake Tuggeranong to a recreational hub for the community.
Dr Ralph Ogden, Program Manager, ACT Healthy Waterways will discuss the quality of the water in the lake and success or otherwise of the schemes to reduce nutrient levels and associated blue-green algae.
Our own Harvey Bell, Chair of the Planning, Transport and Communications Sub-Committee will provide a briefing on the Foreshore Redevelopment Project. This project aims to improve accessibility and amenity for the lake shore alongside the Greenway town centre. Members of the Sub-Committee have been actively working with the planning consultant.
The opportunities for direct community involvement will be explained. There is the Clean-Up Australia Lake Clean-Up on Sunday 6 March 2022 and all helpers are most welcome. And there is the start at home program to improve water quality conducted by The Leaf Collective. Starting a home you can divert leaf litter from the drains and repurpose it for improved gardens.
