The next meeting of the TCC will be held on the 5th December at the Tuggeranong Town Centre Club where we will hear the latest news from the Tuggeranong Hyperdome and what is happening in Anketell Street and the nearby Laneway. We will then have the opportunity to have an informal chat while eating Xmas nibbles
In August this year, the Tuggeranong Community Council’s (TCC) Youth Engagement Sub committee organised a Youth Forum find out youth opinion on a number of issues. These included: Climate Change, Housing, Job Seekers, Nightlife, Safety and Surveillance, Sport, Transport including Roads, Waste and Recycling and Where to from here.
The Tuggeranong Lake Carers’ Committee (TLC) spring cleanup held on Sunday the 15th October, was a great success. The partnerships, the TLC has formed with the Tuggeranong Community Council (TCC), the Southern ACT Catchment Group (SACTCG), Tuggeranong Sea Scouts and the Tuggeranong Rowing Club has grown and strengthened over the years.
The new national headquarters of the Department of Social Services (DSS) was opened in Greenway and will be home to 2,500 staff. It is six storey, 38,400 square metre building was developed by the Cromwell Property Group and is estimated to be worth $260 million. Construction began in June 2015 and cost $172 million. (Canberra Times).
The development of the new Greenway East development currently being undertaken will require a temporary closure of the shared path around Lake Tuggeranong between the 18th of October and the 3rd of November.
The next meeting of the TCC will be held on the 7th November at the Vikings Tuggeranong Town Centre Club, where we will hearing about the work of the Southern ACT Catchment Group (SACTCG). We will also hear from the Rural Fire service and the ACT Fire services about home safety in the light of the up and coming bush fire season.
Lake Carers with the support of the Tuggeranong Community Council and the Southern ACT Catchment Group are organising a Clean-up of Lake Tuggeranong on Sunday the 15th October, from 10am to 1pm. Starting at the Sea Scout Hall on Mortimer Lewis Drive, East Greenway.
The recent AGM of the Tuggeranong Community Council had resulted to some significant changes to the executive. After many years of outstanding service, two of our long-standing members, Beverley and Max Flint have stood down from the TCC Executive.

TCC has made representation for appropriate lighting to be installed in the carpark behind the Tuggeranong CIT. This area is very dark and unsafe not only for students but for the general public who use it at night to attend events in the area e.g. at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre
The next meeting of the TCC will be held on the 3rd October at the Vikings Tuggeranong Town Centre Club where we will hear from Icon Water about their water responsibilities and pricing rationalization. We will also hear from Purdon Planning about plans for Stage 2 Guilfoyle House.
