Over fifty randomly selected members of the community plus representatives from various Community Councils meet over five days as part of the Transport Canberra and City Services ‘Better Suburbs Citizens Forum’. It was a consultation program aimed at setting the vision and priorities for the improved delivery of city services in the ACT for the next four years and beyond. It will also include a community budgeting intimate event to include playgrounds.
It was interesting to note that of the fourteen areas of City Services the forum members listed the following top seven in order of urgency: Lakes, Ponds and Wetlands/Stormwater and Water Quality; Street and Park trees; Household and then Public Space Waste; Roads; Public Spaces and Library Services.
